GAA Panel discussion where anything goes!

We welcome Liam Sheedy, Rena Buckley and Johnny Pilkington to Ballindangan Community Centre for a fully seated panel. Each guest will be interviewed individually and then will finish the night with a lively group debate.

Liam Sheedy – Tipperary

Former Tipperary hurling manager and player joins us to discuss his career which culminated in securing the All-Ireland title in 2010. He has also acted as an adviser to the Antrim and Offaly senior hurling teams as well as successful tenures with a number of club teams. Sheedy was chairman of the National Hurling 2020 Committee, served as a member of the Irish Sports Council and is active in the media, usually as an analyst with The Sunday Game.

Rena Buckley – Cork

Winner of just the 18 All Ireland Senior medals for Cork ladies’ football and Camogie teams. She has also represented Munster in the Gael Linn Cup and Ireland at international rules. She captained Cork to Football glory in 2012 and camogie glory in 2017. She was also named as an All Star on eleven occasions across both codes. A qualified physiotherapist, Rena has inspired generations of players to play sport.

Johnny Pilkington – Offaly

Johnny Pilkington played as a right wing-forward for the Offaly senior hurling team.

Pilkington made his first appearance for the team during the 1988–89 National League and subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2001 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals, four Leinster, one National Hurling League medal and one All-Star award.

At club level Pilkington is one of only a handful of players to have won four All-Ireland medals. In addition to this he has also won six Leinster medals and eight county club championship medals with Birr.
